Newspace and OHS received an Oregon Community Foundation – Creative Heights grant to support one in 2017.
The artist(s) will work from and be inspired by materials in the collection of the Oregon Historical Society. A public exhibition will be held atNewspace Center for Photography in fall 2017 and a series of public programs will travel the state in support of the exhibit. Deadline to apply is November 7th.
We would especially like to see artists apply from all over the state – in addition to those folks you know locally – so if you know of anyone who might be a good fit outside the Portland area please let them know! Also please pass along to any galleries, collectives, neighbors, weirdos, art programs, etc.
All artists living in Oregon, over 21 and working broadly in image based practices are encouraged to apply.
There is funding to cover all travel and lodging to and from Portland for three week long trips. There is additional funding to cover travel and lodging for public programs, research trips around the state, etc. There is a sizable budget to cover all production costs related to the residency and exhibit. There is also an unrestricted $5,000 honorarium.
