Something Like Summer is Blue Seraph Productions’ third feature project, following our second film, The Dark Place (2015), shot in Oregon, and our critically and commercially successful debut, Judas Kiss (2011), shot in Washington.
This movie is our first adaptation, based on the acclaimed young adult novel (named one of Amazon’s Best Books of 2011) by Lambda Literary Award-winner Jay Bell. The book is itself something of a phenomenon. Independently published, the book resonated with readers all over the world, who spread the word to others, turning it into a full-fledged social media sensation. Its success led to a series of five sequels; the latest, “Something Like Thunder,” was just released.

The shoot is June 25-July 21, shot on 25 locations in and around Portland, including Laurelhurst Park, the Wapato Jail, Skidmore Fountain downtown, Old Laurelhurst Church, the Helium Comedy Club, ChaChaCha Taqueria, Lake Oswego High School and more.
We’ll be shooting for 20 days (Saturdays and Sundays off, except July 18), 12 hours each day, with a cast and crew of about 40. Craft services and a hot meal furnished each day.
