On Wednesday, February 4th, Portland State Film will proudly welcome Jon Raymond to the campus to discuss his career as a screenwriter and to visit with film students.
Jon Raymond is a Portland-based screenwriter and novelist. He and his longtime collaborator, director Kelly Reichardt, have made four critically acclaimed films set in Oregon: Old Joy, starring Will Oldham; Wendy and Lucy, starring Michelle Williams; the western Meek’s Cutoff, also starring Ms. Williams; and last year’s thriller Night Moves, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Dakota Fanning. Mr. Raymond was nominated for an Emmy for his screenplay for the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce, which was directed by Todd Haynes and starred Kate Winslet, Evan Rachel Wood and Guy Pierce.
Mr Raymond is also the author of the books The Half-Life and Rain Dragon, and the short story collection Livability. He edits for the literary magazines Tin House and Plazm, and writes occasionally for such publications as Bookforum and the Village Voice.
The talk with Mr. Raymond will be moderated by Portland State film professor Dustin Morrow, and will be held on Wednesday, February 4th, at 4:00pm in room 331 Lincoln Hall. The event is open to all PSU film students and faculty.
